KANOK
The name KANOK means “gold.”
It comes from Kanokwan, which means “the girl with the golden skin.”
Fifteen years ago in Santa Barbara, Preaw Chamchoi and two friends opened a small Thai restaurant on De La Vina Street with just eight tables and a big dream that grew from Santa Barbara and then to Goleta, where Preaw continued sharing her love and passion for Thai food.
Today, KANOK has found its way to Solvang, carrying the same mission as the very first day the kitchen opened; delicious Thai food, friendly prices, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere that feels like dining at a friend’s house.
A friend who came from Thailand, sending decorations and handmade pieces from home, wanting to share not only food but culture, warmth, and stories through every detail.
At KANOK, everything is simple and real. We love to cook comforting dishes, nothing too fancy. Enjoy a good glass of wine, and fill the room with laughter. Share travel stories and memories among locals and visitors alike.
KANOK is not just any friend’s house but that house, the one you can visit as often as you like, because every time you walk through the door, you’ll find friendship, joy, and that golden feeling of being home.
